Calme indocile — Restless Stillness inhabits a place where quiet is never entirely motionless. Something continues to shift beneath the surface, moving through pale expanses, gathering and dissolving. Just as the eye begins to settle, the painting gently draws it elsewhere.
Open areas of ivory and muted mineral tones create breathing room for deeper blue-black and graphite forms to emerge and recede. Traces of misty blue, weathered earth, muted green and oxidized red interrupt the restraint, bringing subtle changes in rhythm and intensity.
This tension lies at the heart of Calme indocile. Its stillness is genuine, but never passive or complete. Beneath it remains a sense of inner movement—an energy that has quieted without entirely disappearing.
Seen closely, layered passages, erasures and fragmented marks reveal a complex surface. From a distance, these elements begin to connect into a broader movement across the canvas. The painting remains suspended between presence and disappearance, tension and restraint, allowing its balance to shift with the viewer’s attention rather than settling into a single reading.
