Après la rencontre — Lingering presence
There are moments when what truly matters reveals itself only after movement has come to rest. Once the turbulence has settled, something remains suspended — a quiet vibration, a lingering presence, a memory that continues to inhabit the space.
After the Encounter emerges from that threshold.
Broad veils of ivory white drift across the surface like a light that seeks not to illuminate, but to gently uncover what lies beneath. Layers of mineral tones, soft blue-greys and misted blues unfold through transparent passages, creating a depth that never imposes itself. Instead, it invites the eye to slow down and wander.
Within this quiet rhythm, two deep blue-black presences gradually come into view. Far from being opaque forms, they are built through successive translucent layers that allow light to move through the colour itself. As daylight shifts, they reveal subtle variations of blue, graphite and velvety mineral tones, quietly transforming the painting's atmosphere.
Nothing is asserted or explained. The painting leaves space for contemplation, allowing each viewer to find a personal path through its silences and subtle tensions. Rather than offering a fixed narrative, it unfolds through time, revealing new relationships between light, colour and material with every encounter.
After the Encounter is an invitation to linger. It reminds us that some experiences do not end when the moment has passed—they continue to resonate quietly, long after everything else has fallen still.
